About

I grew up in a small town – suburb of Chicago

I received a Congressional Appointment (Sen. E. Dirkson) to the U.S. Naval Academy. I reported there 10 days after graduating from Naperville Community High School

I graduated from the Naval Academy in June 1960. In that era there were no majors – only a choice of foreign language – but the emphasis was Electrical Engineering.

I selected Aviation (fulfilling a WW II dream). Aviation training included a strong emphasis in meteorology – particularly long range/endurance Patrol (the majority of my flying). My first two Hurrivacs were – Pensacola to Memphis (primary training) and Corpus Christi to Dallas (advanced training).

My first “trip” to St Croix was for shopping while deployed to Roosevelt Roads, PR (1963)

Before retiring in 1983 my last six years were in Puerto Rico where I quickly learned about living in a hurricane prone area.

(During one storm I woke up and, not realizing we were in the eye, had breakfast and drove to work – I never did that again!).

A few years ago, after five years as weatherman on a local TV station I decided to share my knowledge and experiences by starting my own web site – and here we are!
